Job summary

Resources for Human Development (RHD) is seeking an Instructor / DSP Peer Mentor to provide instructional support, mentoring, and direct services to adults with IDD. You will develop learning activities, life skills training, and self-advocacy programs while mentoring new DSPs and ensuring high-quality service delivery.

This role maintains documentation, supports participant outcomes, and promotes a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment in line with RHD’s mission and Code of Ethics.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems.
• Strong communication, coaching, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to develop instructional materials and facilitate activities.
• Ability to read and follow written participant plans.

Responsibilities

• Deliver instructional activities and learning opportunities for participants, including independent living skills, self-advocacy, program engagement, and other educational classes.
• Develop curriculum, teaching materials, learning aids, and training resources tailored to participants’ abilities and goals.
• Implement individualized service plans and instructional strategies that support participants’ development.
• Supervise and support participants in ratios from 1:1 to 1:12, ensuring engagement.
• Monitor participant progress and document outcomes accurately and timely.
• Maintain participant records and documentation according to funding and agency requirements.
• Coordinate service delivery with the Service Coordinator, QDDP, and Program Services Director.
• Assist with staff development through training and coaching.”
• Mentor newly hired DSPs with regular coaching and feedback.
