Job summary

RHA Health Services seeks an LPN/RN for Riverbend ICF—Children & Adults in New Bern, NC. The role provides nursing oversight, promotes health, independence, and quality of life for individuals with IDD and mental health concerns.

Schedule is 6:30pm–7:00am, on-site, full-time with a competitive benefits package. Responsibilities include clinical oversight, medication administration, training unlicensed staff, and collaboration with physicians and IDT.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program.
  • Active, unrestricted nursing license.
  • Strong communication skills with team members, individuals served, and families.
  • Ability to work independently, stay organized, and effectively prioritize tasks.
  • Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

IDD Facility Nurse Licensed practical nurses (LPN) – Regular

We are hiring for a positive and personable individual to make a real difference in the lives of people with intellectual, developmental disabilities, and those facing mental health and substance use challenges. Riverbend ICF – Children & Adults.

Location: New Bern, NC (On-Site)

Employment Type: Full-time

Compensation: $32 - $38 an hour (depending on role and experience)

Incentives: Sign-on bonus ranging $3,000 - $6,000 (depending on schedule status).

No relocation packaged offered.

Schedule: 6:30pm – 7:00am

Position Overview

As an LPN or RN with RHA, you will have the opportunity to practice holistic nursing while making a meaningful impact in the lives of others. In this role, you will provide healthcare oversight and monitoring for the individuals we support, promoting their overall health, independence, and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide holistic nursing care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
  • Observe, assess, and evaluate the health needs of the individuals we support.
  • Deliver health-related training to unlicensed personnel.
  • Educate individuals on how to monitor their own health and, when appropriate, provide medication administration training.
  • Administer medications and treatments, or assist individuals with self-administration.
  • Ensure preventative and routine medical appointments are scheduled and maintained.
  • Conduct medication closet assessments.
  • Perform quality assurance checks to ensure unlicensed personnel are completing assigned health-related tasks accurately.
  • Collect and document health-related data.
  • Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments.
  • Monitor for and report abnormal findings to physicians in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate and communicate with physicians, pharmacies, medical suppliers, and the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT).
  • Advocate for individuals and assist in developing community supports to promote optimal health and independence.
Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited License Practical Nursing (LPN) OR Registered Nurse (RN) program.

  • Active, unrestricted nursing license.
  • Strong communication skills with interdisciplinary team members, individuals served, and their families.
  • Ability to work independently, stay organized, and effectively prioritize tasks.
  • Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Must be able to regularly lift and carry up to 30 lbs. and occasionally pull at least 50 lbs. Must be able to squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop as part of regular job duties. Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle or operate objects, tools, or controls. Required to stand and walk for extended periods. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in CPR from floor level, which requires working on hands and knees, bending, standing, and lifting. Vision requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision. Must be able to talk and hear. Exception – Deaf and Hard of Hearing Programs: For these programs only, employees must be fluent in American Sign Language (ASL). The requirement to talk and hear does not apply.
