The nurse oversees nursing care across residential homes, vocational centers, and schools, providing health services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental health/substance use needs.

We are hiring for: IDD Nurse (RN) Type: Regular If you are a positive and personable individual looking for a satisfying and fun opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of people with intellectual, developmental disabilities, and people facing mental health, and substance use challenges, join our team at RHA Health Services! Provides oversight and general nursing care and services to persons with disabilities in residential homes, vocational centers and or schools. Responsible for all nursing functions at multiple locations. Relies on knowledge, experience, and judgment with limited direction and supervision to accomplish responsibilities.

Pay Rate: $72,000-$75, 000 annually Sign on Bonus: $1000 Shift: 1st shift REPORTS TO: Executive Director

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide holistic nursing care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Observe, assess, and evaluate the health needs of the people we support.
  • Coordinate preventative and routine medical care for people supported.
  • Document nursing care provided.
  • Provide clinical supervision or oversight for licensed practical nurses and med techs as deemed necessary.
  • Assist with educational and training programs for new employees to include planning, conducting, and scheduling in a timely manner.
  • Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Assist physicians with on-site medical clinics where applicable.
  • Provide health related training to unlicensed personnel.
  • Teach medication administration training to unlicensed personnel when state law allows.
  • Conduct medication pass observations in the home to ensure staff competency.
  • Complete skill competency checklists on delegated healthcare tasks
  • Teach the people we serve to monitor their health.
  • Provide medication administration training to people who are able to self-administer medications.
  • Audits medication administration Conduct medication closest assessments.
  • Perform quality assurance checks and observations to ensure unlicensed personnel are performing health related tasks as assigned.
  • Conduct routine nursing assessments.
  • Observe and report any abnormal health related findings to the physician.
  • Communicate with physicians, pharmacies, medical suppliers, and the Interdisciplinary Team Advocate for the people supported and assist with developing community supports to promote optimal health for the people supported.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to provide nursing support and address needs outside of regular scheduled hours.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduation from an accredited registered nurse program BSN preferred, but not required.
  • Current registered nurse license with no restrictions to practice nursing.
  • Possess credentials required by Federal or State law
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with Interdisciplinary Team Members, as well as the people supported and their families.
  • Must be able to work independently, be organized, and possess the ability to prioritize work tasks.
  • Current CPR Certification or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to regularly lift and carry up to 20 lbs. and occasionally pull at least 40 lbs. Must be able to squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop as part of regular job duties. Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle or operate objects, tools, or controls. Required to stand and walk for extended periods. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in CPR from floor level, which requires working on hands and knees, bending, standing, and lifting. Vision requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision. Must be able to talk and hear. Exception – Deaf and Hard of Hearing Programs: For these programs only, employees must be fluent in American Sign Language (ASL). The requirement to talk and hear does not apply.
