Job summary

RHA Health Services is hiring a PRN Licensed Practical Nurse (IDD LPN) for days in Rome, GA, onsite at group homes. You will provide holistic nursing care, observe health needs, coordinate medical care, document care, and train unlicensed staff. Must have LPN license, CPR, and ability to meet state regulations; lifting and mobility requirements apply.

Shifts run 7am–7pm with rotating weekends off; compensation is $32/hr. PRN, two shifts minimum per month. Orientation is required for new hires.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with interdisplinary team members, people supported and families.
  • Ability to work independently, stay organized and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 20 lbs and occasionally 40 lbs, with mobility requirements for field/household tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide holistic nursing care to individuals with IDD.
  • Observe and report health needs to the registered nurse.
  • Coordinate preventive and routine medical care for people supported.
  • Document nursing care provided and maintain records.
  • Assist physicians with on-site medical clinics when applicable.
  • Provide health-related trainings to unlicensed personnel per state regulations.
  • Conduct medication pass observations to ensure staff competency.
  • Conduct medication closest assessments and QA checks.
  • Report abnormal health findings to physicians and communicate with medical teams.
  • Advocate for people supported and promote health in community supports.

We are hiring for: PRN Licensed Practical Nurse (IDD LPN) - Days Type: Regular

Please note: PRN associates who are extended an offer must be able to complete a required two-week new hire orientation, held Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Please apply only if you are able to attend and complete this mandatory training.

Location: Rome, GA (onsite, group home setting)

Employment Type: PRN (as needed, minimum of 2 shifts a month)

Compensation: $32/hr

Incentives: No sign on bonus. No relocation packaged offered.

Schedule: 7am - 7pm, rotating weekends off

Max Patient Caseload: 4 total

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide holistic nursing care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Observe, assist with gathering health related data, and report the health needs or the people we support to the registered nurse
  • Coordinate preventative and routine medical care for people supported
  • Document nursing care provided
  • Assist physicians with on-site medical clinics where applicable
  • Provide health related trainings to unlicensed personnel according to state regulations
  • Conduct medication pass observations in the home to ensure staff competency according to state regulations
  • Conduct medication closest assessments
  • Perform quality assurance checks and observations to ensure unlicensed personnel are performing health related tasks as assigned according to state regulations
  • Observe for and report any abnormal health related findings to the physician
  • Communicate with physicians, pharmacies, medical suppliers, and the Interdisciplinary Team
  • Advocate for the people supported and assist with developing community supports to promote optimal health for the people supported
Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited licensed nurse program.
  • Current LPN license with no restrictions to practice nursing.
  • Current CPR Certification or eligibility to certify for CPR.
  • Possess credentials required by Federal or State law
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with Interdisciplinary Team Members, as well as the people supported and their families.
  • Must be able to work independently, be organized, and possess the ability to prioritize work tasks.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Must be able to regularly lift and carry up to 20 lbs. and occasionally pull at least 40 lbs. Must be able to squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop as part of regular job duties. Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle or operate objects, tools, or controls. Required to stand and walk for extended periods. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in CPR from floor level, which requires working on hands and knees, bending, standing, and lifting. Vision requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision. Must be able to talk and hear. Exception – Deaf and Hard of Hearing Programs: For these programs only, employees must be fluent in American Sign Language (ASL). The requirement to talk and hear does not apply.
