Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science with a major in nursing preferred; ADN considered with relevant experience or active BSN enrollment approved by Chief Nursing Officer.
• Licensed and currently registered to practice as a professional nurse in New York State.
• BLS certification from AHA required; ACLS certification from AHA required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts nursing assessment based on interview, examination, observation and review of records.
• Ensures progress notes reflect patient status and updated care plans.
• Discharge planning aligned with patient status and inter-departmental communication.
• Communicates information to patients according to their learning readiness.
• Preceptor and mentor roles to new staff, students and volunteers.
• Coordinate care to meet patient needs and unit priorities.
• Document patient conditions and unit status requiring intervention.
• Participate in staff development and inter-disciplinary collaboration.
