Job summary

Carilion Clinic Roanoke's 8 MICU unit seeks a Clinical Associate to provide basic clinical services and clerical support to the health-care team. The role focuses on sepsis care in a 12-bed ICU and requires active participation in patient flow, chart review, and communications with physicians and staff.

Successful candidates must attend daytime orientation (8 am–5 pm, Mon–Fri) for two weeks and may join the sitter process. A $7,500 sign-on bonus applies to external hires meeting guidelines.

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate or GED.
• Experience: none.
• Licensure/certification: Critical Access Area - Certified Nursing Assistant is required.
• Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required.
• Other: strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes and assists patients and visitors with registration.
• May assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Coordinates patient flow using unit software and schedules procedures.
• May review medical records for outstanding orders and notify nurse of changes.
• Transports patients, supplies, and equipment within the facility.
• May assist with chart audits and unit-based patient care tasks.
• Interacts with patients, visitors, physicians, and health professionals.
• Answers calls and routes messages; provides scheduling coverage.
