Job summary

Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA, seeks a Clinical Associate for the 8 MICU (12 bed ICU) on a full-time Day/Evening schedule. You will provide basic clinical services and clerical support to the unit health-care team while participating in orientation classes during daytime hours.

A $7,500 sign-on bonus is available to external candidates who meet guidelines. You will assist with patient flow, admissions, transfers, discharges, and scheduling, while helping maintain equipment, charts, and

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate or GED.
• Experience: none.
• Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Critical Access Area - Certified Nursing Assistant is required; Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required.
• Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, communication, and team-working skills. Must be organized and self-motivated. Must have knowledge of office procedure and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Welcomes and assists patients and visitors with registration.
• May assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Coordinates patient flow into/out of area using department/unit specific software and Intranet.
• Schedules patient therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
• May review medical records for outstanding orders and notifies nurse of stat orders and medication changes.
• Cleans unit-based equipment and gathers supplies needed to operate equipment between patients as needed.
• Transports patients, supplies specimens and equipment within the facility.
• May assist with chart audits.
• May perform unit-based patient care tasks for patients.
• May participate in the sitter process Interacts with patients, visitors, physicians, and other health professionals.
• Answers incoming calls via telephone and patient call system.
• Routes calls as needed and takes messages.
• Provides scheduling coverage support for department/unit staff scheduling, including back up coverage.
• Operates and maintains general office equipment.
• Orders department/unit supplies and equipment and stocks/organizes supplies.
• Serves as a resource for department/unit software system.
• Monitors cleanliness of waiting and break rooms and performs safety/environmental rounds.
• Assists with maintaining regulatory compliance in unit.
