Carilion Clinic is seeking a Clinical Associate for its MICU, a 12-bed unit focusing on sepsis and septic shock. You will provide basic clinical support and clerical assistance, working in a closed ICU model and coordinating patient flow using unit software.

The role requires CNA certification, BLS-HCP, and the ability to attend daytime orientation during the first two weeks. A $7,500 sign-on bonus is available for eligible external candidates.

# **How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:**8 MICU – This 12 bed ICU specializes in the care of the Intensivist Medicine patients, with specialized focus on sepsis and septic shock. This is a closed ICU model of care. Here is an opportunity to thrive and bring your valuable skills to life within a setting known for providing the best quality care to patients. As a clinical associate, you will provide basic clinical services to patients and clerical support to the unit health-care team. **Successful candidate MUST BE able to attend required orientation classes during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm for the first 2 weeks. These classes are mandatory!** **A $7,500 sign-on bonus is available when external candidate meets applicable guidelines.** * Welcomes and assists patients and visitors with registration.* May assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.* Coordinates patient flow into/out of area using department/unit specific software and Intranet. Schedules patient therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.* May review medical records for outstanding orders and notifies nurse of stat orders and medication changes.* Cleans unit-based equipment and gathers supplies needed to operate equipment between patients as needed.* Transports patients, supplies specimens and equipment within the facility.* May assist with chart audits.* May perform unit-based patient care tasks for patients.* May participate in the sitter process* Interacts with patients, visitors, physicians, and other health professionals.* Answers incoming calls via telephone and patient call system. Routes calls as needed and takes messages.* Provides scheduling coverage support for department/unit staff scheduling, including back up coverage.* Operates and maintains general office equipment. Orders department/unit supplies and equipment and stocks/organizes supplies.* Serves as a resource for department/unit software system.* Monitors cleanliness of waiting and break rooms and performs safety/environmental rounds.* Assists with maintaining regulatory compliance in unit. # **What We Require:****Education:** High school graduate or GED.**Experience:** none**Licensure, certification, and/or registration:** none unless the following:* Critical Access Area - Certified Nursing Assistant is required.**Life Support:** AHA BLS-HCP required.**Other Minimum Qualifications:** Effective interpersonal, communication, and team-working skills. Must be organized and self -motivated. Must have knowledge of office procedure and equipment.**Compensation Range:**$18.70 - $26.18*Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.*
