Job summary

Carilion Clinic Roanoke's 8 MICU unit seeks a Clinical Associate to provide basic clinical services and clerical support to the health-care team. The role focuses on sepsis care in a 12-bed ICU and requires active participation in patient flow, chart review, and communications with physicians and staff.

Successful candidates must attend daytime orientation (8 am–5 pm, Mon–Fri) for two weeks and may join the sitter process. A $7,500 sign-on bonus applies to external hires meeting guidelines.

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate or GED.
• Experience: none.
• Licensure/certification: Critical Access Area - Certified Nursing Assistant is required.
• Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required.
• Other: strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.

How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare

8 MICU – This 12 bed ICU specializes in the care of the Intensivist Medicine patients, with specialized focus on sepsis and septic shock. This is a closed ICU model of care.

Here is an opportunity to thrive and bring your valuable skills to life within a setting known for providing the best quality care to patients. As a clinical associate, you will provide basic clinical services to patients and clerical support to the unit health-care team.

Successful candidate MUST BE able to attend required orientation classes during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm for the first 2 weeks. These classes are mandatory!

A $7,500 sign-on bonus is available when external candidate meets applicable guidelines.

• Welcomes and assists patients and visitors with registration.
• May assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Coordinates patient flow into/out of area using department/unit specific software and Intranet. Schedules patient therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
• May review medical records for outstanding orders and notifies nurse of stat orders and medication changes.
• Cleans unit-based equipment and gathers supplies needed to operate equipment between patients as needed.
• Transports patients, supplies specimens and equipment within the facility.
• May assist with chart audits.
• May perform unit-based patient care tasks for patients.
• May participate in the sitter process
• Interacts with patients, visitors, physicians, and other health professionals.
• Answers incoming calls via telephone and patient call system. Routes calls as needed and takes messages.
• Provides scheduling coverage support for department/unit staff scheduling, including back up coverage.
• Operates and maintains general office equipment. Orders department/unit supplies and equipment and stocks/organizes supplies.
• Serves as a resource for department/unit software system.
• Monitors cleanliness of waiting and break rooms and performs safety/environmental rounds.
• Assists with maintaining regulatory compliance in unit.

What We Require

Education: High school graduate or GED.

Experience: none

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: none unless the following:

• Critical Access Area - Certified Nursing Assistant is required.

Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, communication, and team-working skills. Must be organized and self -motivated. Must have knowledge of office procedure and equipment.

Compensation Range

$18.70 - $26.18

Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
