Job summary

UChicago Medicine in Hyde Park is seeking a Staff Nurse (RN) for the 9N&S MICU unit. This 100% onsite role requires a valid Illinois RN license and BLS certification, with ADN baseline and BSN progress optional.

Night shifts, full-time (0.9 FTE) supported by a strong clinical team. The MICU unit is a 24-bed, high-engagement environment where nurses collaborate with physicians on innovative, lifesaving patient care.

Qualifications

• NLN accredited School of Nursing graduate.
• Associate Degree in Nursing required; ADN nurses must enroll in a BSN within 6–9 months of hire and complete BSN within 30 months with 100% tuition reimbursement toward BSN.
• Current Illinois RN license and active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• BSN preferred; 2+ years ICU experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs using appropriate assessment skills.
• Develop and implement an individualized care plan; collaborate with Case Manager as needed.
• Support care center as a resource and team member; assist as required.
• Attend continuing education and participate in program evaluation.
• Perform charge nurse responsibilities as assigned by leadership.
