University of Chicago Medicine is seeking a Staff Nurse for the 9E Hospital Medicine unit at our Hyde Park campus. The position is 100% onsite and requires you to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.

You will provide patient-centered care, collaborate with physicians, and participate in care planning and education to support patients from acute need to transition of care. This role is full-time (0.9 FTE) with night shifts and weekend rotation.

Qualifications

• NLN accredited School of Nursing.
• Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Must enroll in BSN within six to nine months of hire and complete BSN within 30 months.
• Current Illinois RN license.
• BLS certification from AHA is required.

Responsabilités

• Assess patient needs and develop a plan of care.
• Coordinate with Case Manager for complex cases.
• Provide charge nurse responsibilities as assigned.
• Support peers and work as a team member.

A staff nurse is a registered professional nurse (RN) who manages patient centered care that is outcome directed. Patient centered care principles and professional nursing practice standards provide the foundation for the nurse to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care provided. The staff nurse assumes the primary responsibility and accountability for all patient care personally provided and that provided by those directly under her/his supervision.

Essential Job Functions

• Utilizes appropriate assessment skills to determine patient needs.
• Develops a plan of care for those patients whose needs do not require the expertise of a Case Manager or collaborates with the Case Manager to develop a plan of care for specified patients.
• Manager or collaborates with the Case Manager to develop a plan of care for specified patients.
• Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned by Care Center Director or Patient Care Manager.
• Provides support to peers by assisting as needed, being a resource person and working as a team member.
• Assists Care Center in development/attainment of goals and objectives.
• Uses clinical pathways and/or plans of care incorporating standards of practice.
• Assesses own need for professional growth and development and seeks appropriate resources to meeting needs.
• Attends continuing education programs and participates in program evaluation.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing.
• Associate Degree in Nursing Associate Degree Nurses are required to enroll in a BSN program within six (6) to nine (9) months of hire, and make progress toward and complete their BSN degree within 30 months. ADN nurses receive 100% tuition reimbursement towards a BSN degree from an accredited program.
• Current Illinois RN license
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
