Qualifikationen

• RN licensure in Maryland or eligible via Compact
• BSN preferred for advancement and leadership
• Current CPR certification required
• ACLS and PALS within 1 year of employment in ICU
• Active professional membership encouraged
• Ongoing education as per Maryland Nurse Practice Act

Aufgaben

• Functions as charge nurse and/or preceptor. Works with supervisor to resolve unit issues.
• Performs assessments and reassessments, collecting data to formulate nursing diagnoses.
• Develops individualized Plan of Care with measurable goals and documents it.
• Coordinates resources and personnel to implement the Plan of Care.
• Performs treatments, including medication administration, per physician orders.
• Evaluates patient response and revises the Plan of Care as needed.
• Documents assessments, treatments and changes thoroughly and timely.
• Assesses teaching needs and provides patient education.
• Communicates with the health care team to ensure continuity of care.
• Facilitates patient throughput including admission, transfer and discharge.
• Participates in unit staff meetings and shared governance.
