Job summary

McPherson Hospital Inc. in Kansas is seeking an ICU Registered Nurse for night shifts. The RN will direct patient care using critical care skills to diagnose, plan, implement interventions and evaluate outcomes for optimum patient care.

Expect to manage complex ICU patients, supervise monitor tech and telemetry, and coordinate with physicians. Requires BSN preferred, KS RN license, and ACLS/PALS within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing (two-year program) required.
• BSN preferred.
• Licensed in Kansas as a Registered Nurse in good standing; BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC verification within 6 months of hire.
• Six months to one year of Med/Surg experience; three to five years ICU experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide critical nursing care in ICU and oversee monitor tech and telemetry patients.
• Plan and provide direct patient care using the nursing process per hospital policies.
• Follow CMS guidelines to ensure indicators are met and patient outcomes improve.
• Follow protocols for narcotic and other medication administration; ensure six rights of medication administration.
• Provide patient teaching and begin discharge planning at admission.
• Communicate patient condition changes to physicians and other staff/units as needed.
• Document findings and outcomes for continuity of care.
