Job summary

Mercy Hospital Washington is seeking a Patient Care Associate to support ICU patients under RN/LPN supervision. You’ll help with vital signs, meals, hygiene, transportation, and clerical tasks, with advancement through PCA to PCT.

The role offers a structured training path, no prior experience required, and a first-step program including BLS certification within 1 month and competencies in 3 months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CNA/CPTC certification, enrollment in a healthcare career program, or current Mercy coworker preferred.
• No prior experience required; we will train you.
• BLS Certification: Required within 1 month of hire.
• Competencies: Completed within 3 months of hire.
• Mercy offers a 175-hour PCA training program within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and record vital signs in the EMR.
• Assist patients with meals, hygiene, toileting, ambulation, and transport.
• Provide clerical support as needed.
• PCT duties: phlebotomy and blood cultures, enteral feedings, wound care, IV/Foley removal, tracheostomy care and suctioning.
