Job summary

Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans seeks a patient care assistant to support the plan of care under licensed nurse supervision. You will help with basic patient care, monitor safety, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff.

The role requires a high school diploma, BLS and CPI within 30 days of hire, and strong computer and documentation skills. A flexible schedule including weekends and holidays may be required.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS from American Heart Association and CPI certifications must be obtained within 30 days from hire.
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and basic computer/data entry proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Supports the plan of care as delegated by staff nurse within scope of skills verification.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment in the patient care area.
• Provides care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to patients’ ages.
• Communicates patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and other staff members.
• Completes documentation of patient tasks.
• Adapts interaction to the patient population and ensures privacy and informed consent.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
