Job summary

Ochsner Health in Baton Rouge is seeking a patient care assistant to support the plan of care under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. You will help maintain a safe patient environment, perform basic care tasks, and communicate needs to the care team.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and the successful candidate will obtain BLS and CPI within 30 days of hire. Strong communication, organization, and flexibility are essential to succeed in this 24/7 healthcare

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use standard software packages.

Responsibilities

• Supports the plan of care as delegated by staff nurse within scope of skills verification.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment in the patient care area.
• Provides care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned areas.
• Communicates patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and other staff members, including multi-disciplinary teams.
• Completes documentation of patient related tasks.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
