Job summary

The MUSC Health ICU Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a key member of the intensive care team, coordinating care for critical care patients and collaborating with interprofessional teams to develop comprehensive plans for patient care. The APP performs diagnostic/therapeutic procedures, coordinates peri-procedural services, and manages discharge planning within regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN.
• ACLS and BLS certifications required; DEA license applications may be started prior to first day.

Responsibilities

• Takes comprehensive history and performs physical examinations.
• Evaluates and treats based on history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results.
• Performs therapeutic procedures in accordance with privileges approved by the Clinical Division Chief (e.g., arterial line placement, central line placement, intubation, thoracentesis, etc.).
• Initiates referrals to other health care providers and consults with attending or collaborating physician.
• Documents and bills for direct care provided; participates in quality and performance improvement activities.
• Supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities and ongoing professional education.
