Job summary

The APP Fellow will work within a Critical Care team under the direction of an APP and a Physician to provide comprehensive and consistent care for critically ill patients in a hospital setting. The Fellow will gain experience in assessing, diagnosing, and managing care, selecting interventions, performing required procedures, and consistently evaluating patients' progress toward medical goals.

During the fellowship, you may rotate between night and day shifts as required, with supervision

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Physician Assistant Program or graduate of an approved Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program.
• Highly motivated new graduates are welcome.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct clinical services for critically ill adult patients with cardiac or multi-system failure under supervision.
• Obtains patient histories and performs physical examinations with documentation.
• Orders and interprets diagnostic tests and explains procedures to patients and families.
• Performs therapeutic/diagnostic procedures and assists physicians.
• Performs CPR, airway management, and defibrillation per ACLS standards.
• Inserts and manages arterial/central lines, chest tubes, endotracheal tubes as credentialed.
• Develops and implements treatment plans and monitors patient progress.
• Contributes to clinical research and quality improvement activities.
• Educates nursing staff and healthcare team on standards of care.
