Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Central Massachusetts is seeking a Patient Care Technician III for the Critical Care Unit. You will support licensed clinicians, monitor patients, and help with daily living activities, vital signs, and basic procedures in a fast-paced environment.

This role requires BLS, good English communication, and the ability to stay calm under pressure. Night shift 7p-7a, 36 hours weekly, with opportunities for additional shifts and potential signing bonus.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school education or GED.
• Current Basic Life Support.
• 1 year of acute care/hospital experience or 1 year of EMT Paramedic experience.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English clearly.
• Medical Terminology essential.
• Computer skills needed.
• Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with team and patients.
• Able to remain calm under stress or in emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding patient observations and changes.
• Maintains high-risk patient safety through monitoring and checks.
• Assists patients with daily living activities and mobility.
• Assists with positioning, lifting, and transporting patients using proper safety techniques.
• Performs EKGs, Point of Care tests, and specimen collection per hospital standards.
• Assists with treatments by preparing equipment and supplies and supporting care team.
