Job summary

Edward-Elmhurst Health in Arlington Heights, IL, seeks a Patient Care Technician for the Intermediate Care Unit nights. You will support the care team, assist with personal care, mobility, and vital signs under RN/LPN supervision, and help maintain patient comfort and safety.

Responsibilities include documenting care in the electronic medical record, coordinating admissions/discharges when needed, and communicating with physicians, patients, and families. CPR cert required.

Qualifications

• The level of knowledge normally obtained through the completion of high school.
• Completion of CNA course and CNA certification exam.
• EMT or paramedics training, or enrollment in a nursing program with clinical rotations.
• Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Enters specific patient treatments and charges to the electronic medical record.
• Assists the care team in coordinating patient activities and services.
• Helps coordinate communication between care team, physicians, patients and families.
• Assists patients with personal care needs under RN/LPN supervision.
• Aids in patient mobility and safety under supervision.
• Obtains vital signs, I&O, accu-checks and reports abnormalities.
• Documents basic patient care in the EMR and supports admissions/discharges.
