Job summary

Air Methods in Highland, AL, is seeking an experienced RN to provide high-quality critical care during helicopter transports. You will assess, triage, and treat patients per CBS Medical Director guidelines and support safe transport to facilities.

Requirements include a nursing degree, RN license, and 3+ years in critical care or emergency nursing. Flight experience is a plus, with training and education supported by Air Methods.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field preferred but not required.
• Minimum three (3) years of recent critical care/emergency nursing experience within the last five years or as required by state/ local EMS regulations.
• Pre-hospital experience preferred.
• Flight experience is not required but is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care within scope of practice and maintains patient care documentation.
• Maintains competency through ongoing education and trainings; communicates needs to supervisors.
• Keeps medical equipment functioning and ensures onboard supplies for patient care.
• Attends pre-mission briefings, supports mission debriefings, and documents appropriately.
• Assists in pre-mission liftoff checks and aids pilot with radio and navigation tasks.
• Performs duties to ensure safety and conducts safety briefings as needed.
• Prepares as flight resource for neonatal/pediatric transport and performs approved advanced procedures.
• Participates in outreach, education, and departmental meetings.
