Job summary

UW Medical Center - Montlake is seeking a full-time Night Shift ICU/ED Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) to serve as the subject matter expert for the Nurse Staff Development team. The CNE will lead education, quality improvement, and clinical expertise across ICUs and the Emergency Department.

The role includes coordinating orientation for ICU/ED nightstaff, developing evidence-based programs, and partnering with leaders to drive patient safety and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing or a related field preferred.
• Four to five years of recent intensive care nursing experience.
• Equivalent education and/or experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Advise, coordinate, and support orientation programs for ICU and ED nightshift nursing staff, including traveling nurses, experienced nurses, new graduate nurses, and nurses in ICU Consortium or similar programs.
• Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based educational programs, simulation activities, skills labs, competency validation, and annual education for night shift staff.
• Partner with nursing leadership, CNSs, physicians, APPs, and interdisciplinary teams to identify educational priorities aligning with organizational goals.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives through protocol development, implementation, staff education, outcome monitoring, data collection, and dissemination of best practices.
