Job summary

UNC Health Care at Caldwell Memorial Hospital, Nursing 4 West ICU, in Lenoir, NC, is seeking a Nursing Assistant I for a full-time night shift. You will support the professional caregiver, transport patients and equipment, and assist with room setup and clerical tasks on the patient care unit.

Responsibilities include assisting with routine examinations, documenting patient changes, providing basic patient care, and participating in safety and quality checks on the unit.

Qualifications

• Must be fluent in verbal and written English language.
• Capability to develop computer skills if not competent.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Nursing Assistant I certification required or listed.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies.
• Critically reviews patient care documentation and reports significant changes to a nurse or physician.
• Performs clerical tasks: organize workload, greet visitors, review orders for clarity, transcribe orders, maintain medical records, and conduct PI audits/data entry.
• Provides clinical support: clean work area, troubleshoot equipment, change linens, check inventory, transport patients/supplies/specimens, orient new staff.
• Provide direct personal care per plan: assist with bathing, dressing, feeding, ambulation, measure vital signs, collect specimens, wound care as needed.
• Reinforce patient education and distribute educational materials.
