Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) seeks Project Engineers to support Inertial Confinement Fusion (ICF) science within the Weapon Physics and Design program. You will serve as a technical and systems-level integrator among experimental teams, physicists, and support groups to execute high-quality NIF experiments.

The role may offer a hybrid schedule with some home-based work after a probationary period; alignment with team needs will vary. A DOE Q-level clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with project planning, scheduling, change control, risk management, and configuration management.
• Strong ability to monitor milestones, coordinate actions, and manage interfaces across teams.
• Proven collaboration skills in multidisciplinary environments and effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Translate scientific objectives into executable experimental plans for ICF campaigns.
• Coordinate multiple concurrent campaigns and manage detailed schedules and readiness.
• Identify and close technical, schedule, resource, and readiness gaps across teams.
• Work with designers and experimentalists to convert concepts into executable plans.
• Lead technical reviews, track progress, and communicate status to leadership.
