Job summary

St. Paul Academy and Summit School seeks candidates for the position of Ice and Building Operations Lead, Drake Arena. This non-exempt role reports to the Arena Manager and focuses on ice maintenance, arena operations, and customer service in a single-sheet Drake Arena facility.

The role requires shifting schedules, including nights and weekends, and offers a 1.0 FTE, 12-month commitment with a pay range of $53,000–$63,000 per year.

Qualifications

• Certified Ice Technician (CIT) preferred or ability to obtain within 2 years.
• Two-year postsecondary degree or higher from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of three years of related work experience in an ice arena or similar recreational facility.
• Knowledge of mechanical equipment including HVAC systems, refrigeration plant and ice resurfacers.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
• Must work varying shifts including nights and weekends.
• Experience with desktop software including Google Docs/Sheets/Calendar and arena ice scheduling software.
• Experience using POS and inventory management software.

Responsibilities

• Operate ice resurfacer and maintenance equipment regularly.
• Lead ice sheet installation, flooding, shaving, painting, and monitoring ice conditions.
• Coordinate arena opening and closing on a varying schedule including nights/weekends.
• Supervise hockey games, tournaments and large events at the arena.
• Assist with recruiting, training and supervision of part-time staff.
• Support preventive maintenance programs for arena equipment and building.
• Perform janitorial duties to ensure a safe, clean facility.
• Monitor equipment and maintain accurate records of tools and supplies.
• Provide information and assistance to customers by phone, email, and in person.
• Assist Grounds Department activities during spring/fall cleanups and snow removal.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Maintain inventory and monitor air quality, reporting issues to Arena Manager.
