Job summary

University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign’s Department of Campus Recreation is seeking an Ice Arena Coordinator to oversee a 55,000 sq ft facility, featuring a 192' x 115' sheet of ice, five locker rooms, four party areas, and seating for 1,200 spectators. You will manage day-to-day operations, scheduling, concessions, and staff.

Responsibilities include supervising 120+ student employees, budgeting, and risk management, while coordinating public and private events and ensuring safety compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field; 1 year of education, training, or work experience in events/programs.
• Demonstrated facility management experience.
• Master's degree preferred; experience with ice arena operations and supervising student staff is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of the ice arena facility and concession areas.
• Supervise and schedule 120+ student employees and oversee staff development.
• Directly hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate hockey officials and staff.
• Coordinate event scheduling for ice arena activities and special events.
• Ensure risk management, safety training, and compliance with policies.
