Job summary

City of Dearborn operates the Dearborn Ice Skating Center and seeks a part-time attendant to support daily operations, safety, and basic arena tasks.

This role requires 16+ age, evening hours, and flexible shifts including weekends. Duties include assisting with maintenance, enforcing ice safety, and occasional duties in snack bar, scorekeeping, and Pro Shop as needed.

Qualifications

• Ice skating ability is preferred.

Job description

MINIMUM AGE: 16 years of ageHOURS OF WORK: 10 to 20 hours per weekMonday - Friday, 4:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.Weekends - any shift between 8:00 a.m. & 10:00 p.m.DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:An employee in this class performs a wide variety of duties related to the operation and maintenance of the Dearborn Ice Skating Center. The employee assists in the general maintenance of the Arena; enforces safety on the ice; must be willing to fill in at the Snack Bar; act as scorekeeper for hockey games; work in Pro Shop when needed. Work is performed under close supervision, however as the employee gains experience in Arena operations, the level of duties and responsibility increase.SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:The ability to ice skate is preferred.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Ability and willingness to perform routine tasks associated with the operation and maintenance of a municipal ice arena.Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with other employees and the general public.Some mechanical ability.Ability and experience in scorekeeping hockey games.Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.EXAMINATION PROCEDURE:Applications will be reviewed.Qualified applicants will be scheduled for an interview.POST-EMPLOYMENT OFFER REQUIREMENTS:Satisfactory completion of a criminal background (sex offender registry if applicable) and a drug screen that tests for illegal drugs as defined by the Federal Drug Free Workplace Act but not those legalized under Michigan law prior to start date.
