Qualifikationen

• High School / GED required.
• At least 1 year hospital coding experience.
• Successful completion of coding courses in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) OR Certified In-patient Professional Coder (CIC).
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Strong data entry skills.
• Understanding of computer applications.
• Ability to work with members of the health care team.
• Preferred: Associate's degree in Health Information Management or Related Field.

Aufgaben

• Reviews and interprets medical information and determines appropriate ICD codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Abstracts data elements to satisfy statistical requests and enters coded information into designated system.
• Manages medical information and cash flow related to unbilled coding reports.
• Keeps informed of ICD guideline changes and applies updates in daily work.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
