Job summary

Fairfaxhospital is seeking a Health Information Technician/Coder for the Monroe location. The role involves processing discharge charts with ICD-10 coding, chart assembly, data entry across multiple systems, scanning charts, and assisting the ROI Coordinator.

The HIM team supports compliance with federal/state regulations and Joint Commission standards. The position also helps maintain accurate patient records while in-house and supports the Director of HIM as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of administrative experience; 1 year in a health care setting required.
• CPC, or CCS, or RHIT, or RHIA certifications required.
• Verbal De-Escalation and Handle with Care certifications, CPR; provided during Fairfax new hire training.

Responsibilities

• Process discharge charts including ICD-10 coding, chart assembly and analysis.
• Data entry across multiple systems and chart scanning.
• Assist ROI Coordinator and support the Director of HIM as needed.
• Maintain accurate patient records while patients are in-house and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, licensing requirements, and Joint Commission standards.
