Job summary

Jobtailor in Ohio is seeking a Medical Billing Specialist with ICD-9 and CPT coding knowledge to support a multi-specialty practice. You will monitor unresolved accounts, initiate follow-up, communicate with payors, and help resolve billing discrepancies while safeguarding patient information.

The ideal candidate holds CPC, CCS, RHIT, or RHIA credentials, has 1+ year of medical billing experience, excellent verbal and written communication, and meticulous attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Experience with ICD-9 and CPT coding and claims processing.
• Ability to resolve billing discrepancies with attention to detail.
• Experience with third-party insurance processes.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze unresolved third-party accounts for multi-specialty group practices
• Initiate telephone and written follow‑up on identified insurance accounts
• Communicate with payors and internal departments to obtain information affecting current and future claims
• Research and respond to customer service telephone inquiries
• Review and correct coding edits and denials
• Code ICD-10 from written documentation when needed
• Meet department productivity and quality standards
• Maintain patient/physician confidentiality and professional communication with patients and physicians
• Provide information and feedback to personnel within UHPS
• Identify insurance-related trends and report findings to the Team Lead
• Interpret written correspondence and resolve or route problems for prompt resolution
• Communicate through telephone, form letters, and internal correspondence to resolve patient inquiries
• Handle multiple tasks simultaneously and resolve billing discrepancies using knowledge of insurance products and billing requirements
• Perform other related duties as assigned
