Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced Medical Coder to oversee inpatient and outpatient coding using ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and CPT guidelines. You will work with medical staff to determine principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures to maximize accurate reimbursement.

The role requires at least five years of hospital coding experience, formal accreditation, and the ability to educate colleagues while ensuring compliance with federal regulations and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Completion of formal program for accredited record technician or certification in coding required.
• Minimum 5 years’ diagnosis and procedure coding in hospital records using ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT guidelines.
• Ability to communicate with physicians (written and oral).

Responsibilities

• Oversee assignment of codes for inpatient and outpatient medical records.
• Assist staff in identifying principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures for optimal reimbursement.
• Ensure coding compliance with productivity and quality standards.
• Maintain appropriate A/R days and late charges through chart timely collaboration.
• Provide education and follow up on coding issues with departments and physicians.
