Job summary

University Hospitals in Ohio seeks a Physician Coding Specialist I to monitor unresolved third party accounts for multi-specialty practices. You will initiate contact, negotiate resolutions to ensure timely payments, and handle coding edits, denials, and ICD-10 coding from written documentation.

The role requires CPC/CCS/RHIT/RHIA certifications (or equivalent), a High School diploma, 1+ year medical billing experience, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with internal/external partners.
• Proficiency with basic software and billing systems.
• Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding and claims processing.
• Ability to analyze, solve problems, and maintain accuracy.
• Experience in multi-specialty medical billing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor unresolved third party accounts and follow up promptly.
• Communicate with payors and internal departments to obtain needed information.
• Research inquiries from customer service and resolve issues.
• Review and correct coding edits and denials; may code ICD-10 from docs.
• Adhere to PHI confidentiality and departmental guidelines.
