Job summary

Intertek is seeking a Special Inspector in Morgan Hill, California to perform testing and inspection duties for civil and commercial construction projects. The role involves operating testing equipment, interpreting plans, and communicating findings to clients and project teams.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma, ICC reinforced concrete certification, and at least two years of related inspection experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years’ related inspection experience.
• ICC reinforced concrete certification.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
• Ability to work off shifts and overtime.
• Ability to lift, move, push and pull up to 50 pounds frequently; Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound.
• Ability to kneel and squat occasionally.
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures.
• Ability to climb occasionally, and work at various heights.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and calibrate testing equipment and conduct soil and/or concrete testing.
• Utilize drawings, specifications and diagrams.
• Read and interpret plans and specifications.
• Observe site activities and perform tasks and complex assignments.
• Make detailed observations, give interpretation of results, maintain detailed documentation and data from test results.
• Communicate effectively with client and project teams and attend project meetings.
