Job summary

SOCOTEC is seeking an ICC Certified Special Inspector to perform special inspections on commercial, industrial, and public works projects in San Jose, CA. Ideal candidates will hold Reinforced Concrete certification and prefer additional ICC certifications.

Responsibilities include inspecting various structural systems, documenting activities, and communicating with project teams, managers, and clients. Minimum 2 years of inspection experience and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience performing special inspections or related quality assurance work.
• Thorough understanding of construction materials, structural systems, and building codes.
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and construction documents.

Responsibilities

• Perform special inspections in accordance with plans, codes, and ICC requirements.
• Inspect reinforced concrete and related structural systems for compliance.
• Inspect structural masonry, post-tensioned concrete, prestressed concrete, steel, bolting, and welding as certified.
• Read and interpret drawings, specs, shop drawings, and code requirements.
• Document inspection activities and prepare clear field reports and records.
• Maintain organized project files including reports, notes, RFIs, and correspondence.
• Communicate findings and updates with project teams and clients.
• Identify non-conforming work and verify corrective actions.
