Job summary

NV5 is seeking ICC Construction/Building Inspectors to work on-site in Kern County and Baker, CA for a long-term project starting Spring 2027. You will ensure contractor work complies with approved plans and specifications and serve as primary client contact.

The role features hourly pay of $75–$90, per diem and approved expenses, travel with monthly home trips, and 10–14 hour shifts with large weekly hours. Strong communication and safety focus are required.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of related Construction Inspector experience (Heavy commercial and/or industrial).
• ICC Building Inspector certification is a must!
• Candidate must have a valid US Driver’s License.
• Experience providing construction oversight of the Contractor's work.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels of construction.
• Ability to coordinate multiple complex projects.
• Conflict Resolution to keep projects on schedule and budget.
• Safety Awareness and OSHA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
• Monitor the Contractor’s work activities concerned with the construction of structures, facilities, and systems.
• Monitor the Contractor’s schedule, alerting the Contractor and the Client should the critical path become foreseeably jeopardized.
• Project cost tracking of the Contractor’s schedule of values.
• Perform Construction Inspection of the Contractor’s work to ensure compliance with the project plans and specifications.
• Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients, representing the owner or City.
• Proactively recommend actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site.
• Recommend resolution of construction issues in a decisive manner to keep projects on schedule and under budget.
• Represent the company to outside organizations and maintain client relations, assessing client needs in support of NV5.
