Job summary

Interwest Consulting Group in California seeks an experienced ICC Certified Building Inspector to join our Building and Safety Group. This role performs daily field inspections of residential, commercial, and public facility construction projects, and communicates technical information to diverse audiences.

The ideal candidate has CA IBC knowledge, 3+ years of field code interpretation, and a valid CA driver\\'s license.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of local building codes and current construction procedures/technology.
• 3+ yrs. experience interpreting codes in the field with code-compliant solutions.
• Familiar with CA International Building Codes editions and updates.
• Ability to positively interact with staff, public, contractors, and agencies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong time management, organization, and attention to detail.
• Initiative and independent judgment; able to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic computer use.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily field inspections of residential, commercial, and public facility construction projects.
• Explains technical information to diverse audiences, including non-technical individuals.
• Reviews plans and calculations for compliance with codes and standards.
• Provides interpretations of City, State, Federal, and local ordinances.
• Maintains accurate inspection records and permitting software entries.
• Maintains logs of inspection results and related documentation.
• Performs other related duties as required.
