Job summary

Kairos Power seeks an Instrumentation, Controls and Electrical (IC&E) Engineer to design, implement, and optimize IC&E systems for TRISO fuel fabrication. You will select equipment, develop specs, review P&IDs, and ensure safe, compliant operation across prototype and production stages.

You will collaborate with process, mechanical and other engineering disciplines, support commissioning, and troubleshoot instrumentation and control systems in a nuclear manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years in instrumentation, controls, electrical or process automation.
• Experience with industrial or chemical process environments.
• Ability to read PFDs, P&IDs, data sheets and control narratives.
• Experience specifying instrumentation and controls equipment.
• Experience supporting installation, testing, commissioning or startup.

Responsibilities

• Perform IC&E design for prototype and production TRISO fuel systems.
• Implement and configure process automation with safety design in mind.
• Develop instrumentation specifications and select components (PLCs, VFDs, motors, I/O).
• Review P&IDs, data sheets and related documentation.
• Translate C&E diagrams into control sequences and implementation.
• Coordinate with CAD for cable routing and electrical interfaces.
• Provide hands-on support for fabrication, installation and checkout.
• Develop commissioning plans and functional tests for IC&E equipment.
