Job summary

HUB International in Miami seeks an experienced Application Developer to maintain, enhance, and support enterprise applications built on legacy IBM i systems.

You will modernize tooling (VS Code for IBM i, GitHub), collaborate with business users, and ensure robust database solutions with MS-Access and OpenEdge Progress. You will also work with Visual Basic integrations and Linux administration in a dynamic team.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in AS/400 (IBM i) and RPGLE programming.
• Strong SQL knowledge including query optimization, stored procedures, and database design.
• Experience with MS-Access database development and management.
• Working knowledge of Visual Basic for applications development.
• Hands-on experience with OpenEdge Progress database and 4GL.
• Solid understanding of Linux operating systems.
• Excellent communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts for business users.
• Self-motivated with ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain applications using AS/400 (IBM i) and RPGLE programming.
• Drive IBM i modernization initiatives by championing modern development tooling (VS Code with Code for IBM i, RPG/CLP editing) in place of traditional green-screen tools, integrating AI-assisted development practices where applicable, and migrating source code management to Git/GitHub to support version control, branching, and collaborative development workflows on the AS/400 platform.
• Develop and support database solutions using MS-Access and OpenEdge Progress.
• Create and maintain Visual Basic applications and integrations.
• Work directly with business users to gather requirements, provide solutions, and deliver technical support.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application issues with minimal supervision.
• Perform system administration tasks in Linux environments.
• Document technical specifications and maintain code repositories.
