Job summary

HUB International seeks an experienced Application Developer to maintain and modernize critical enterprise applications on AS/400 (IBM i) with RPGLE. You will partner with business stakeholders to understand needs, implement enhancements, and ensure system reliability across Linux environments.

The role involves promoting modern development tooling (VS Code with IBM i support), integrating source control with Git, and delivering robust database solutions using MS-Access and OpenEdge Progress.

Qualifications

• Experience with AS/400 IBM i RPGLE programming and modern development practices.
• Strong SQL knowledge including query optimization, stored procedures, and database design.
• Experience with MS-Access database development and management.
• Working knowledge of Visual Basic for Applications development.
• Hands-on experience with OpenEdge Progress 4GL.
• Solid understanding of Linux operating systems.
• Excellent communication skills for translating technical concepts to business users.
• Self-motivated with ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain applications using AS/400 (IBM i) and RPGLE.
• Drive IBM i modernization by promoting modern tooling (VS Code with Code for IBM i, RPG/CLP editing) and migrating source control to Git/GitHub.
• Develop and support database solutions using MS-Access and OpenEdge Progress.
• Create and maintain Visual Basic applications and integrations.
• Collaborate with business users to gather requirements, provide solutions, and deliver technical support.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application issues with minimal supervision.
• Perform system administration tasks in Linux environments.
• Document technical specifications and maintain code repositories.
