Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years of clinical experience in maternal/child nursing.
• Proficient in Windows applications; EMR preferred.
• Excellent professional judgement and decision-making ability.
• Excellent communication and critical thinking skills.
• BLS within 6 weeks of hire.
• IBCLC certification required; RN license required.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patients’ lactation needs by obtaining histories, examining patients, and gathering baby/family information.
• Analyzes and documents factors to develop an individualized plan of care.
• Communicates the plan to the health care team for coordinated treatment.
• Keeps accurate medical records and updates care as needs change.
• Teaches latch techniques and supports feeding methods.
• Participates in standards of practice and protocol development.
