Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare seeks a Lactation Specialist to provide inpatient lactation support, education, and clinical guidance for postpartum parents and infants. You will collaborate with nursing and medical staff and document assessments in the EMR to support breastfeeding goals.

This role requires IBCLC or progression, along with RN licensure and BLS. You will participate in quality initiatives and contribute to lactation policy development across units.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing, Health Education, Nutrition, or related healthcare field required.
• IBCLC certification or progression required; sit for IBCLC exam within 1 year.
• AHA BLS certification required; RN license from any state may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient lactation consultations and breastfeeding assessments.
• Educate parents one-on-one or in groups; develop lactation plans.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health staff.
• Document assessments and progress in the EMR; participate in quality initiatives.
