Job summary

Penn Medicine in Philadelphia seeks an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) to enhance lactation care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The IBCLC educates, consults, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to support breastfeeding families.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, IBCLC certification with two years inpatient experience, and BLS certification. Expect four 9-hour shifts weekly, holiday rotation, and mentoring lactation students while promoting

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree required.
• Must be International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant with two years inpatient experience or equivalent preferred.
• Must have Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.

Responsibilities

• Completing initial assessment using interviewing, observation, and physical assessment.
• Collaborates with multi-disciplinary team to develop plans of care for breastfeeding families.
• Provides telephone warmline support to pregnant and lactating women for information and referrals.
• Educates on breastfeeding and orients staff to infant feeding policy and practice guidelines.
• Demonstrates safe practice and upholds UPHS values in patient care.
• Promotes Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative and adherence to marketing code.
