Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network in Pennsylvania is seeking a Lactation Consultant to join the care delivery team, focusing on breastfeeding mothers and infants. You will provide selected clinical care under supervision and advocate for breastfeeding families.

As a clinical expert, you will coordinate follow-up visits, educate families, document care, and support staff with lactation guidance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years in an office-based medical practice.
• Ability to care for patients with developmental perspective.
• Demonstrates respect for patients and families.
• Expertise in breastfeeding education and support.
• Strong listening, communication, and adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Assist the provider and nurse as needed and directed.
• Serve as a resource on breastfeeding issues for clinical staff.
• Identify patient risks and communicate to the licensed nurse or provider.
• Record vitals after completing the vital sign competency assessment and document in the medical record.
• Provide phone advice and administer selected medications after required education and mentoring.
• Coordinate lactation follow-up visits and education for families.
• Schedule and coordinate diagnostic tests as assigned.
