Job summary

Williamson County and Cities Health District in Cedar Park, Texas, seeks an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) to join the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) division as a part-time specialist.

The IBCLC provides clinical lactation support, joins training, conducts outreach, may visit homes or hospitals, and may lead others. Works with WIC staff and partners to improve breastfeeding outcomes, under limited supervision.

Qualifications

• Current certification as an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is required.
• Minimum of two years of experience in a clinic, hospital and/or public health environment is required.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• CPR certification or willingness to obtain is required.
• Valid Texas driver’s license and access to reliable transportation with the ability to travel to multiple work locations.

Responsibilities

• Provide lactation counseling via telephone, virtual, clinic visits and home/hospital visits as needed.
• Lead breastfeeding classes and mentor Breastfeeding Peer Counselors or WIC staff as needed.
• Coordinate with physicians, family and WIC staff to ensure efficient service for clients.
• Assist in education, outreach and training activities related to breastfeeding support.
