Job summary

Legacy Community Health in Pasadena, TX seeks an IBCLC Lactation Consultant to educate and support new mothers in a comprehensive care setting. The role emphasizes collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and community outreach, with a focus on underserved populations.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree with 1+ year outpatient experience, and IBCLC certification (in process) is accepted. Fluency in Spanish is highly preferred, and the team values mentorship and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and/or 1–2 years related experience required.
• IBCLC certification required or in process.
• Minimum 1 year outpatient clinic experience preferred.
• Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
• Excellent teaching, verbal, and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Educate, counsel, and support breastfeeding mothers to establish and maintain lactation.
• Teach breastfeeding techniques, proper latching, milk storage, and breast pump use.
• Support working mothers with milk supply management.
• Lead breastfeeding education classes and community outreach activities.
• Assess infant oral motor mechanics and recommend interventions as needed.
• Collaborate with providers and nursing staff on lactation concerns.
• Document patient encounters accurately in EMR.
• Provide referrals and guidance on lactation resources and supplies.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and other duties as assigned.
