Job summary

VHC Health in Arlington, VA is seeking a Part-Time Lactation Consultant to assess needs, plan and evaluate breastfeeding education for lactating patients and nursing staff.

The role includes educating patients, monitoring at-risk infants, staff education, policy development, and documentation in the patient record. IBCLC certification is required; RN licensure or compact licensure is preferred; associate or bachelor’s degree required.

Qualifications

• An associate degree or a bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
• IBCLC certification is required.
• One year of Women and Infant clinical experience is preferred.
• RN license by Virginia DHP or compact state license is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop lactation-related department goals and coordinate education for staff and patients.
• Educate patients who plan to breastfeed and monitor at-risk infants.
• Document breastfeeding assessments and progress in the patient record.
• Provide staff education, contribute to policy development, and participate in committees as lactation liaison.
