Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health seeks a dedicated Lactation Consultant to provide breastfeeding assessment, education, and intervention for families across the network. You will document teaching and support nursing staff competencies in collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary teams.

The role requires an active NJ Nursing license, AHA BLS/CPR certification, and at least 2 years of OB nursing experience. IBCLC certification is required, with BSN/MSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Current NJ Nursing license is required.
• Active American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification is required.
• Minimum of 2 years of OB nursing experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient's understanding of signs of adequate milk transfer and breastfeeding techniques.
• Demonstrate age-specific competencies during patient interactions.
• Communicate breastfeeding skills to mothers and families.
• Make follow-up calls to assess breastfeeding outcomes within one week of discharge.
• Formulate patient/family centered goals based on assessment data.
• Coordinate a plan of care across the continuum of care.
• Plan work within allotted hours and manage time for breast feeding support and education.
• Adhere to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
