Job summary

University Hospital in Newark, NJ is seeking a Lactation Consultant to provide clinical lactation therapy, education, and consultative services to patients and staff. You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals; initiate referrals; develop and deliver education plans and group classes; and ensure accurate documentation and billing for services.

Bachelor's Degree and IBCLC certification required; at least one year of related experience; fluency in additional

Minimum 1 year of lactation education counseling experience.
Ability to use audiovisual equipment and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

Initiates and receives referrals from physicians, nursing staff, and patients.
Develops, implements, and evaluates educational plans for lactation services.
Provides in-patient and out-patient lactation consultations and education to patients and families.
Documents Lactation Education and patient assessments; records teaching and progress in documentation and billing.
