Job summary

Eastman, a global specialty materials company, seeks an Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Mechanic in Milton, FL. The role focuses on maintenance and repair of plant instrumentation and electrical equipment, with call-out coverage and overtime flexibility.

Responsibilities include maintaining and troubleshooting valves, transmitters, controllers, and DCS; investigating failures; supporting preventative maintenance; and assisting with turnarounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree preferred.
• Associate’s degree or technical certification in Electrical or Instrumentation Technology
• 2+ years in industrial chemical/manufacturing environment; 5+ years preferred
• Strong background in control and instrumentation incl. valves, transmitters, controllers, and DCS
• Experience troubleshooting electronic/digital process control systems, motors and high voltage equipment
• Familiar with level, temperature, pressure and flow measurement; electrical code knowledge
• Ability to read blueprints, P&IDs and specifications; basic MS Office
• SAP experience a plus; OSHA regulations compliance emphasized

Responsibilities

The Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of industrial instrumentation and electrical equipment in a safe, efficient, and effective manner and with a high level of proficiency. The person in this position must be able to respond to call-outs and have flexibility to work overtime.

Responsibilities Include

• Maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing chemical plant instrumentation and equipment including low and high voltages, valves, transmitters, controllers, and Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
• Investigation of equipment failures to include determining root causes, and recommending and implementing appropriate solutions to eliminate or reduce failures
• Assisting in the review, development and implementation of site preventative maintenance programs
• Participating in the planning and execution of chemical plant turnarounds

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Valid driver’s license required
• Associate’s degree or technical degree/certification from an accredited educational institution in Electrical or Instrumentation Technology or a similar discipline highly preferred
• 2+ years’ experience in an industrial chemical or related manufacturing environment required; 5+ years preferred
• Strong background in control and instrumentation, including valves, transmitters, controllers, and DCS systems required
• Experience in troubleshooting and repair of electronic and digital process control systems, related loop equipment, electric motors, high voltage equipment, as well as control circuitry
• Familiarity with methods of level, temperature, pressure, and flow measurement, as well as knowledge relating to pneumatic and electronic instrumentation
• Have practical knowledge relating to electrical distribution, motors and motor control, conduit and wiring practices, lighting and grounding as well as familiarity with the National Electrical Code (particularly for hazardous locations)
• Must be able to read blue prints, specification sheets, loop diagrams and P&IDs
• Basic computer software and hardware experience, including competency with MS Office
• Process analyzer experience helpful
• SAP experience a plus
• Thorough understanding of and compliance with OSHA regulations
