Job summary

Eastman in Pace, FL is seeking an Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Mechanic to maintain and repair chemical plant instrumentation and electrical equipment safely and efficiently. The role requires the ability to respond to call-outs and work overtime when needed.

You will troubleshoot control systems, valves, transmitters, and DCS, read blueprints and P&IDs, and support preventative maintenance and turnarounds. A technical degree and 2+ years in a similar environment are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate’s degree or technical degree/certification in Electrical or Instrumentation Technology or similar preferred
  • 2+ years’ experience in industrial chemical or related manufacturing environment; 5+ years preferred
  • Strong background in control and instrumentation including valves, transmitters, controllers, and DCS systems
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing electronic and digital process control systems
  • Familiarity with measurement methods for level, temperature, pressure, and flow
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution, motors, conduit, wiring, lighting, grounding, and NEC
  • Ability to read blueprints, specification sheets, loop diagrams and P&IDs
  • MS Office proficiency
  • OSHA safety compliance knowledge
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Self-motivation and proactive attitude

Responsibilities

The Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of industrial instrumentation and electrical equipment in a safe, efficient, and effective manner and with a high level of proficiency. The person in this position must be able to respond to call-outs and have flexibility to work overtime.

Responsibilities include

  • Maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing chemical plant instrumentation and equipment including low and high voltages, valves, transmitters, controllers, and Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
  • Investigation of equipment failures to include determining root causes, and recommending and implementing appropriate solutions to eliminate or reduce failures
  • Assisting in the review, development and implementation of site preventative maintenance programs
  • Participating in the planning and execution of chemical plant turnarounds
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Associate’s degree or technical degree/certification from an accredited educational institution in Electrical or Instrumentation Technology or a similar discipline highly preferred
  • 2+ years’ experience in an industrial chemical or related manufacturing environment required; 5+ years preferred
  • Strong background in control and instrumentation, including valves, transmitters, controllers, and DCS systems required
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repair of electronic and digital process control systems, related loop equipment, electric motors, high voltage equipment, as well as control circuitry
  • Familiarity with methods of level, temperature, pressure, and flow measurement, as well as knowledge relating to pneumatic and electronic instrumentation
  • Have practical knowledge relating to electrical distribution, motors and motor control, conduit and wiring practices, lighting and grounding as well as familiarity with the National Electrical Code (particularly for hazardous locations)
  • Must be able to read blue prints, specification sheets, loop diagrams and P&IDs
  • Basic computer software and hardware experience, including competency with MS Office
  • Process analyzer experience helpful
  • Thorough understanding of and compliance with OSHA regulations

  • Must possess initiative and be self-motivated
  • Good interpersonal skills with ability to work in a team setting
  • Clear and effective written and oral communication

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights of up to 100 ft.
  • Duties require substantial bending, lifting, reaching, crouching
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces
